SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Important yet fragile is the world’s right to education: this is what can be deduced from reading the UNESCO report that speaks of more than 250 million children around the world who cannot go to school because of discrimination or unaffordable education costs. A high number when one considers how crucial study and knowledge can be in the growth of a country in more ways than one.

In India, the “Right to Education Act”, causing the illiteracy rate to drop from 75% to 30%, brought a significant improvement to the village of Paritewadi.

Ranjitsinh Disale, a teacher and winner of the Global Teacher Prize, promoted the education of young women in the village, changing the lives of girls.

The teacher, thanks to the prize he won, built a school and ensured the availability of textbooks in the local language, implementing an educational system using QR codes to provide students with access to additional content including poems, stories, and video readings. In addition to low school attendance, there are also infrastructure issues that need a commitment from all the communities.
